Flat Classroom Conference

Building bridges today that society tomorrow will walk across

Well, we kept to time, we worked hard, and we broke new ground in terms of what an educational project-based conference can look like. It was a memorable time meeting the students and teachers from the difference countries and to see them working together on their leadership and student summit areas. The technology worked on the most part, although we kept losng the Elluminate connection for Flat Classroom Debate and the virtual link-up with Educon 2.1. However it did work OK for the session with Tom Friedman via Skype! We all listened intently to Tom answering student questions and interacting with the difference nationalities represented here.
The really favourite part of my day, amongst many to choose from, was spending 10 minutes in the student summit room with Vicki and the teams. I was so impressed with the fact so many of them had laptops and were backchaneling! Vicki is soooo good at working with the teams and moving them forward to use the technologies and to take a logical approach to defining a problem and then a solution....I know some incredibly impressive ideas are going to emerge tomorrow!

Julie - It's great to hear that the conference is going so well - a lot of it would be due to the hard work and efforts of people like yourself and other who have assisted. As a parent of Emily - I'm proud to say that we are grateful to have a teacher like Anne Mirtschin who is willing to be adventurous and explore new technology and open up the opportuntities for our students. Also to have people like yourself willing to put your energy and efforts into things like this conference is fantastic. Congraulations and I haope the rest of the conference is successful.

I would have to agree with you Julie. There is such a buzz in the room when the students are working and I know it's going to be even better tomorrow now that the students have had a night to sleep on it. I am really looking forward to witnessing what the students achieve tomorrow. You are so right about Vicki. It is truly a pleasure to watch and listen to her teach. see you tomorrow
